Best Form of Barking Control Collar
The type of dog breed that you own has a large effect on your dogs overall temperament, you'll find dogs like the Boston terrier to be enthusiastic and energetic, but very quiet in terms of barking. On the other hand a smaller Cairn terrier will bark you awake each night and let you know every time someone comes close to your home's front door. There are a number of special training techniques to help you deal with this, though some dogs just don't like to listen and obey. In these cases it can pay to use a form of dog bark control collar to help move the obedience process along.
Using a dog bark control collar
If you're new to dog bark control collars, then you might be surprised to learn that they use electric shocks or other means to help break a dog's bad habit. They have had good effect for several years, by house pet owners and professional trainers alike. This barking control collar can generally be categorized into 3 types, the electric shock collar, lemon spray collar and sonic collar. All of these can be found under the same or different brand names in your local pet store or ordered online from your favorite dog website.
The dog bark control collar comes in 2 main forms, there is this type that attaches to your dogs neck and controlled using a portable control unit, which the owner carries with them at all times. This can easily be activated by a simple switch that instantly releases a small shock, burst of spray or a brief high frequency sound to temporarily cause discomfort to your pet. There is a lot of controversy surrounding the use of these devices, though each of the collars causes only a minor amount of discomfort to the animal as a way of breaking their repetitive bad habits and usually only needs to be used a few times before the connection is made.
The second type of dog bark control collar uses an automatic system to release a shock, spray or sound; they can be set at a certain level and left around your dog's neck, picking up the vibrations caused from your dog's heavy barking.
*Dog shock collar – This form of dog bark control collar is the most controversial, but also the most popular and effective form of bark collar available. It can be controlled remotely or automatically and adjusted to different settings for different sized dogs, the electrodes attach closely to the skin around the dogs collar and emit a shock similar to that felt from a small static shock from a carpet.
* Spray bark collar – If you don't fancy the idea of shocking your dog you could opt for the spray bark control collar, which uses a specially formulated all natural lemon extract instead. The mixture called citronella is released directly into your dog muzzle and causes a brief moment of discomfort and confusion for your pet; it is uncomfortable but completely harmless.
*Sonic bark collar – If the above forms of dog control collar don't fit your needs you could opt for the latest form of humane bark control collar. The Sonic collar emits a high pitched frequency sound that only dogs can hear, when triggered it drives certain breed's wild for a short period of time.
